Page 1

Welcome and Thank You
Dear Friend,

Thank you for your interest in serving on the Board of Directors at Resonant Vibe. We’re truly grateful that you're considering lending your leadership, insight, and heart to help guide this work forward.

We believe board service is a powerful act of community care. At Resonant Vibe, our board plays a vital role in shaping the direction of the organization - and we don’t take that lightly. That’s why we want you to feel fully informed before you step into this role. It’s important to us that every board member understands not just our mission, but the why and how behind it - why Resonant Vibe was created, how our programs operate, how we engage with families and volunteers, and what kind of impact we’re making in the community.

Sound decision-making begins with understanding. That’s why we believe it’s essential for every board member to be deeply grounded in how Resonant Vibe operates and in the realities of the communities we serve. We’re committed to building a board that is thoughtful, actively engaged, and fully equipped to lead with clarity, compassion, and purpose.

This orientation packet is designed to give you a clear picture of who we are, what we do, and where we’re going. We hope it helps you decide if this is a mission you feel called to help lead.

Thank you again for your time, your interest, and your commitment to community.

Warmly,
Katie Craft
Founder & Executive Director

About Resonant Vibe

Our Origin Story
Resonant Vibe was created in direct response to a critical gap in local youth mentoring services. For decades, Big Brothers Big Sisters provided life-changing mentorship across our region - but when the Southern Lake Michigan Region office closed its doors in June 2025, families and volunteers were suddenly left without the relationships and support they had come to rely on. The loss was deeply felt throughout the community.

Determined to carry the mission forward, our founder - an experienced social worker with deep community roots and the former Director of Programs at Big Brothers Big Sisters - stepped in to build something new. She wasn’t alone: other dedicated BBBS staff joined the effort to launch what would become Resonant Vibe.

In March 2025, Katie Craft applied for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with an initial vision rooted in music and creative healing. When Resonant Vibe's nonprofit tax status was approved in June, nearly simultaneously with the closure of BBBS, it became clear that it needed to evolve. The mission expanded to center mentorship, parent advocacy, and generational support, all grounded in the power of authentic relationships.

Near the end of June 2025, we formally launched Resonant Vibe as a community-rooted nonprofit. Within days, families and volunteers began signing up for services - demonstrating just how urgently this support is needed and affirming the heart of our work: meaningful connection transforms lives.

Programs

Goal to launch: August 2026

Resilience. Inspiration. Support. Empowerment. Through the RISE youth mentoring program, we connect youth with caring adult mentors who provide guidance, encouragement, and consistency - helping each young person discover their unique voice and navigate life with confidence. Through our community-based mentoring model, we match youth ages 6-18 with mentors who meet with them twice a month for for at least an hour to explore shared interests and work toward personal, academic, and emotional goals.

Our programming is grounded in:
  • Connection – building strong, consistent relationships between mentors and mentees
  • Creativity – using art, music, storytelling, and self-expression to foster identity and healing
  • Empowerment – helping youth develop the skills and self-belief to pursue their dreams
Whether it's creating art, learning to DJ, or simply sharing a meal and talking through life’s challenges, this experience is about showing up, listening deeply, and growing together.

Child Eligibility:
  • Aged 6-18
  • Have a desire to meet with a mentor regularly
  • Live in Elkhart or St. Joseph Counties, Indiana
